Support Long Grove’s Parks – Community Petition

Protecting Our Parks. Preserving Our Future.

The Long Grove Park District is a non-taxing park district, meaning it receives no property tax revenue to fund operations, maintenance, or improvements. Instead, we rely on a small staff, a volunteer Board of Commissioners, grants, donations, and the dedication of our community to preserve and care for our natural spaces.

By signing this petition, you are helping us demonstrate community support for our efforts to secure state and federal funding and prioritize projects that protect and enhance Long Grove’s parks and open spaces.

Your voice helps ensure these special places remain healthy, accessible, and thriving for generations to come.

COMMUNITY PETITION

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of the Long Grove community, respectfully express our support for the Long Grove Park District and its mission to preserve open space, protect natural areas, and provide meaningful recreation opportunities.

The Long Grove Park District operates with three employees and a volunteer Board of Commissioners and receives no property tax revenue. Despite limited financial resources, the District maintains multiple woodland and open space properties, organizes community programs, and works to protect environmentally sensitive land.

The Park District is actively seeking state and federal grant funding to support land stewardship, trail improvements, and long-term ecological restoration. Community support is a critical component of these efforts.

By signing this petition, we respectfully request that funding agencies and community leaders:

  • Recognize the unique non-taxing structure of the Long Grove Park District

  • Support its current and future grant applications

  • Prioritize funding for land preservation, ecological restoration, and community recreation

  • Help ensure Long Grove’s parks remain accessible and healthy for future generations

We believe Long Grove’s parks and natural areas are essential to the character and quality of life of our community and proudly support the work of the Long Grove Park District.
